Determination of Stiffness and Hardness of Glasses by using Acoustic Waves Testing

In this study we sought to develop a non-destructive test that uses the propagation of acoustic waves characterize stiffness and hardness flat glasses. For purpose, three different glass samples were investigated by using resulting from impact caused steel sphere in free fall on surface. As result, it was found have vibration frequency behavior is associated Young’s modulus microhardness, values. The values calculated ultrasonic transmission method indicated increase related appearance ofamplitude peaks signal samples, attesting possibility for characterizing mechanical properties glasses used civil building.
